What credentials do I use to log in to the computer?

You are required to log in using your Exam Number and your Certificate of Experience Number exactly as they appear on your slip.

Which items are strictly prohibited for PEP Exam?

ou are not allowed to enter with:

  • Writing materials

  • Jewelry and Watches

  • Phones

  • Calculators

  • Bags.

What details must be visible on my examination slip for it to be valid?

Your slip must clearly display your Examination Number, Certificate of Experience Number, and your Photograph. The heading must also carry the correct examination date (e.g., “April 2023 PEP Examination slip”).

What should I do if an answer box turns yellow?

If a box remains yellow without turning green, it indicates a system issue. You should call the attention of an invigilator immediately to look into it. Do not panic, but ensure the issue is resolved before you submit.

Is a calculator provided for the PEP exam?

Yes, but it is digital. Since physical calculators are prohibited, you must use the “Show Calculator” feature built into the exam interface.

What management calculations or concepts should I know?

Under Organization & Management, you should be familiar with:

  • National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

  • Drug Revolving Fund (DRF).

  • Logistics & Supply Chain Management.

  • Inventory Management and procurement methods

The syllabus explicitly lists the following priority disease states:

  • Communicable Diseases: Malaria, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, STIs, Typhoid fever, Meningitis, Hepatitis B & C, and emerging diseases like Ebola/Lassa fever .

  • Non-Communicable Diseases: Hypertension, Heart Failure, Asthma/COPD, Diabetes Mellitus, Peptic Ulcer Disease, Glaucoma, and Cancers (Leukemia, Breast, Prostate) .

  • Mental Disorders: Anxiety, Schizophrenia, and Depression.

you must study the structure and functions of:

  • Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).

  • Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN).

  • NAFDAC.

  • General Pharmacy and Drug Laws.

  • The Code of Ethics and Disciplinary Procedures.

Will there be calculations in the exam?

Yes. Under the “Medicines Supply” competence, you are required to perform correct calculations. This includes calculations for dispensing and compounding extemporaneous medications.

I did my internship in a hospital. Do I still need to study Industrial Pharmacy?

Yes. The syllabus is competence-based and applies to all interns regardless of where they trained. You are expected to understand Drug Production & Quality Assurance, specifically:

    • Unit operations for manufacturing (Mixing, Granulation, Compression, etc.).

    • Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).

    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

    • Concepts of Quality Assurance vs. Quality Control.

What are the main areas I need to study for the PEP?

The syllabus is not just limited to clinical pharmacy. You are required to demonstrate competence in six specific domains:

  • Pharmaceutical Care (Patient focus).
