Policy Frameworks & Clinical Governance

This section deals with the rules and guidelines that standardize practice. Interns are expected to know the National Drug Policy and the Essential Drugs List, which guide rational drug selection at the national level. At the institutional level, knowledge of Hospital Formularies and the role of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee (PTC) in selecting drugs is required. It also includes the application of Standard Treatment Guidelines to ensure evidence-based care.
